July 2 , 2005 - Fresh dates on the live page...

Jan. 24, 2005 - If you've checked the live page lately you'll already know that Mike's got two weekly gigs going in Toronto - Wednesday's @ Graffiti's and Thursday's (starting Jan 27) @ Ben Wicks. Both night it's The Hogtown Syncopators - non-elitist jazz with Jay Danley, James Thomson and Terra Hazleton. A week or so ago Mike sat in with Jeff Healey's Jazz Wizards, and Jeff asked him to sub for their regular guitar player when he's away. Sweet.

Mike heads into the studio at the end of the month to start recording his new material...Woohoo!

Dec. 15 , 2004 - Just added a whole lotta shows to the 'live' page. Mr. Daley is one busy dude.
And please, read the 'blog'
it is, as always, riveting and addictive. The "Why the Grateful Dead Were the Greatest American Rock Band: A Polemic and Top Ten List" discussion is heating up, comments are being made.
ps - has anyone else heard rumours that Mike Daley hisself will be heading into the studio to record some of his songs? Can it be true?

Nov. 7, 2004 - Updated 'live' page. Mike's almost finished with his work in the West, so he's back home to Toronto soon and hopefully he's recovered from the devastating blow of the election results in the U.S. (see Mike's 'blog' for more on that and other issues)

Sept. 29 , 2004 - A personal mikedaley.net invitation for you to check out this particularly cherry gig.... On Wednesday, October 13 Mike will open for Kelly Joe Phelps at the Casbah in lovely downtown Hamilton, Ontario. Purchasing your tickets in advance for this one might be a good plan.
Call the Casbah @ 905-526-6192 or email

Aug 16, 2004 - a whole batch of fresh new live dates for you people, on the 'live' page of course...

July 20, 2004 - updated the 'live' page. and this page ; )

June 21 , 2004 - fresh 'live' dates and an updated 'bio'. Mike himself is out there in the wild west, but he's adding to the 'blog' most days...

a cherry one with Classic Albums Live at the swanky Hard Rock Cafe in Orlando.

May 25, 2004 - If you head on over to the 'links' page you'll see we've added links to a whole pile of Mike's essays. There's also an incomplete version of Mike's 'Online Musicology Course'. So get out yer readin' glasses folks...

May 7, 2004 - Added some show dates, so check the 'live' page. Mike's 'blog' page is working well these days.

If you'd like to get updates from Mike right in your ol' inbox, instead of waiting until someone sporadically updates this news page, go to the 'contact' page and sign up for the MD's newsletter through yahoo-groups. In case you're not on the list yet and you don't read the blog (but why aren't you reading the blog?) here's Mike's latest newsletter:

What I'm doing May 7-15:

-calling landlords
-long overdue and somewhat ripe laundry
-teaching, with little qualification, a mandolin lesson
-a second rehearsal for the rubber soul/revolver show with classic albums
live; this one goes to rochester on may 21 and the phoenix in toronto on may 27, followed by orlando june 11...the first rehearsal was a relative cakewalk, with even the tricky vocal harmonies pretty much in place from
the git-go...a great group of musicians, and i send them mad love
-string and woodwind arrangements for the upcoming jillian horton album; i got this gig through a series of strangenesses, and i'm hitting the orchestration guide hard
-teaching, with little qualification other than a little-heard killjoys session, a banjo lesson
-filing briefs
-checking out david baxter at the tranzac on sat. afternoon
-gigs, I got 'em:

Monday, May 10
Cameron House with Justin Rutledge - slinky steel, pointy tele, and john
coltrane's version of neil young's 'on the beach'. pay what you can.

Tuesday, May 11
Graffiti's, my show. with Rob Clutton, double bass, Nicole Dueck opening
and special guests. this is a show that i would like you to come to this
month if you can....it's going to be sweet, and you have to hear Nicole.
we'll be playing a few tunes together, including Loretta Lynn's "the night
i let you hang my wings upon your horn" which you'll be wanting to hear if
you're a fan of honky-tonk metaphor. 9 pm start, pay whut yuh can.

Thursday, May 13
Pepper Jack Cafe, Hamilton. my second bit at this cool place on king
william. it's a solo show, and usually requests are in the offing.
wicked pizza.

Saturday, May 15
Cameron House with Justin Rutledge. a benefit for an independent film
festival, details unknown to me.

bonheur,
md

March 25, 2004 - Mike will be performing two Beatles albums, 'Rubber Soul' and 'Revolver' with Classic Albums Live this summer in Toronto, Rochester and Orlando, Florida. As well, we'll be reprising our White Album concert in St. Catherines and in Toronto at the CNE. And it looks like they'll be performing Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band at Massey Hall (Toronto) with a full orchestra in the fall! Details to follow...

The 'blog' appears to be jammed, or stuck or...??? but we're working on it. If Mike blogs and no one sees it, is he really blogging?

NOTE: the show on March 31 is at C'est What, not at the venue we previously posted...check the 'live' page...

March 18 , 2004 - More live shows added so check the 'live' page for details...

Mike will be at The Cameron house every Monday playing steel guitar, telecaster and mandolin with Justin Rutledge and the Junction Forty, see the 'live' page for details...

Make sure you check out Mike's 'blog' page, it's kind of like 'notes from the cubicle' and he updates it most days.

You can listen to sound files on the 'listen' page. Mike's added a couple of 'extras' including a demo from 1998! And "Been Here and Gone", Mike's killer CD is back in stock, you can order copies through the 'contact' page...
